Mercury Montego Headlight Bulb Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service the Headlight Bulb on Mercury Montego?
A: The headlamp service for the Freestyle and Montego alongside the Five Hundred requires both headlamp and Ignition Switches to be set to OFF until further steps. Toward removal of the headlamp bulb from the Freestyle and Five Hundred models users should twist it counterclockwise 1/8-turn followed by disconnecting the electrical connector. The headlamp assembly must be uninstalled first before removing the six bolts securing the headlamp bulb access cover for the Montego model. To remove and disconnect the electrical connector of the high beam bulb you should rotate it 1/8-turn counterclockwise. You can obtain the HID bulb from the Montego through the spring retainer release followed by an electrical connector separation. The process for bulb installation requires performing steps in reverse order to unsuccessful removal. You should handle the bulb by its base since error handling pressures inside keep it fragile and likely to shatter if the glass envelope gets scratched or drops. The glass envelope requires no contact and bulb removal from the assembly should happen only directly before installation to prevent performance-degrading contaminants. Operation of the headlamps must be prohibited when the bulb remains outside the assembly.
