What Precautions Should Be Taken When Servicing the Clock Spring on Mercury Mystique?

Wear safety glasses; point air bag/trim away. Disconnect steering battery, center and lock. Take off shrouds and wheel, unplug connectors, air-bag too. Free three retainers using a screwdriver, take off sliding contact. Installation by centering (CCW stop, followed by approximately 2.75 CW to position marks). Reassemble. Reconnecting battery, relearn required (drive) of about 16 km.
