How to service the Speed Sensor on the Turbine Shaft on Mercury Mystique?

A proper service of turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor requires vehicle elevation and support with a drain pan positioned beneath the sensor location. Separate the electrical connector before removing the bolt in order to extract the TSS sensor. The sensor bore requires inspection before examining the O-ring seal for damage. If you find any signs of damage replace the O-ring. The O-ring seal needs a thin application of petroleum jelly before installing the new sensor. You must install the newly put-in TSS sensor after you re-attach its electrical connector. Remove the drain pan then position the vehicle into lower position after installation. Add new transmission fluid either from Motorcraft Mercon (R) Multipurpose automatic transmission fluid or an equivalent product with Mercon (R) specifications when checking and verifying the transmission fluid level. Before finishing the procedure start the engine while moving the transaxle range selector lever through its complete gear range.
