How to service the shift indicator on Mercury Sable?

Start by taking out the floor console finish panel in order to service the shift indicator. Disconnect the indicator bezel of the selector lever and put it aside. Eject the bulbs out of the bezel, thereupon puncture the bulbs. Installation has the effect of merely undoing the process of removal.
