How to service and repair the main A/C Switch assembly on Mercury Villager?

Removing the battery ground is necessary in order to service/repair the climate control assembly. Take off ashtray/cup holder by lifting tabs and connector. Take away console cover (four pin retainers). Take off instrument panel center finish panel, unscrew and remove lighter. Unscrew and take off control head (shown EATC; manual like); unplug connectors. Reinstall in reverse.

In order to maintain the HVAC control assembly, unplug the battery ground. Take out the ashtray/cup holder (release tabs, unplug connector), console cover (four retainers) and instrument panel center finish panel (unscrew, unplug lighter). Unscrew and take out the control head (EATC pictured; manual like), disconnect connectors, and then install using the reverse steps.
