The first task to handle the Electronic Brake Control Module is protecting against static electrical discharges since these components remain sensitive to static damage. Users should remove the battery tray for diesel-powered vehicles while the service requires battery ground cable disconnection as well as engine air cleaner removal and EVAP canister extraction for gasoline-powered vehicles. Take out the rubber dust cover followed by the pushpin before you disconnect the three electrical connectors from the anti-lock brake control module. To remove the module you should unscrew it and lift it out of position. The vehicle will adapt its driving behaviors after battery installation because reconnecting and disconnecting the battery causes a learning process during which you need to drive 16 km (10 miles) or more to finish relearning the adaptive strategy. The process for reinstallation requires you to perform the removal steps in the reverse order.

Reverse the removal steps and note that disconnecting and reconnecting the battery may lead to abnormal drive symptoms until the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy, which may require driving for 16 km (10 miles) or more.
