    Q:
How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on Ford Freestar? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting the suction accumulator service of the HVAC system requires refrigerant recovery as the first step. A single use of F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) mineral oil as a lubricant exists exclusively for R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals but should never reach the A/C compressor. The recommended oil for A/C compressor lubrication is PAG refrigerant compressor oil F7AZ-19D589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent which adheres to Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Replacement A/C fittings need installation of new O-ring seals which must receive lubrication by clean mineral oil before reinstalling them. A suction accumulator replacement becomes essential only when a failed A/C compressor or suction accumulator damage leads to system contamination. Follow the specified order for component removal before reinstalling everything according to the removal sequence. Clean PAG oil requires proper measurement before the system receives lubrication before an evacuation procedure and final leak test and refrigerant charge completion.

    Q:
How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on Mercury Monterey? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first procedure for servicing an HVAC suction accumulator requires recovering all refrigerant from the system. After discarding O-ring seals from the two A/C fitting nuts you should tighten the new fittings at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque when installing everything back. You can replace the suction accumulator after disconnecting the A/C cycling switch electrical connector and removing its three bolts securing the suction accumulator. To reassemble the system start by doing the opposite of uninstallation while utilizing new O-ring seals lubricated with clean mineral oil along with checking that the refrigerant system contains the appropriate amount of clean PAG oil. Evacuation and leak testing and charging the refrigerant system serve as the concluding steps for completion of the process.

    A:
Reverse the removal steps, making sure to install new O-ring seals and lubricate the refrigerant system with the appropriate amount of clean PAG oil.
