The first step to work on the alternator requires battery disconnection followed by moving the front end accessory drive belt to an open location. The first step should be to remove the front valance panel alongside the air deflector followed by the removal of components in the correct sequence. Start the procedure by unfastening the A/C suction line clip from the radiator core support and then loosen the LH A/C suction line lower bracket bolt before setting the bracket in its proper place. It is fundamental to hold the generator manually by hand when removing bolts because this practice prevents damage to the harness as electrical connectors are disconnected. The A/C suction line will require repositioning toward the back area to simplify the removal of the generator. The connector boot should be placed to the side while working on the generator B+ wire nut. End the installation by proceeding in the exact opposite manner of removal.

Starting the alternator service and repair process requires the removal of the battery connection. The tensioner should be released for access to move the accessory drive belt from the generator pulley. First remove the front valance panel and air deflector followed by untwisting the A/C suction line clip from the radiator core support. Take the bracket retaining bolt from the LH A/C suction line lower bracket then set the bracket in the backward position. You should install the upper generator bolt with 21 Nm (15 lb-ft) torque setting when you replace it. When installing the generator lower nut and bolt tighten them to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft). Support the generator during electrical connector removal and set aside the connector boot before unthreading the generator B+ wire and detaching the B+ wire and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) after reinstallation. The generator electrical connector should be disconnected first and the four bolts holding the generator bracket can be removed but they need to be tightened to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft) when reinstallation is complete. Follow the opposite order of steps to finish the installation procedure.

Take out the LH A/C suction line lower bracket bolt and position the bracket rearward.

Disconnect the generator electrical connector, then position the generator B+ wire protective cover aside to remove the generator B+ wire nut and cable end, which should be tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) upon reinstallation.

Reverse the removal steps to complete the process.
