Start the servicing of the single generator alternator by disconnecting all batteries. You should first remove the air cleaner assembly followed by the fender splash shield. Turning the accessory drive belt tensioner all the way clockwise allows you to remove the drive belt from the generator pulley. The generator B+ terminal requires setting aside after nut removal then re-tightening the nut to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Before generator maintenance disconnect its electrical connector followed by removing the two bottom bolts that must be torqued to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) upon retainer. The next step involves removing the upper bolt alongside the generator before installing these components with 47 Nm (35 lb-ft). The last step involves executing the reverse process of removal to finish the installation.

Begin by disconnecting the battery.

Hand-start the generator B+ terminal nut to avoid cross-threading.
