The first step for servicing the 60 percent bench seat armrest requires depowering the supplemental restraint system (SRS) to maintain safety because the safety belt pretensioner operates using pyrotechnics. Safety glasses must be worn by everyone during this operation. Mark the position of safety belt buckle pretensioner wire harness connections as you remove the 60 percent bench seat and write down routing paths which will be needed for reinstallation. First disconnect the safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connector after removing its anchor clips. Then guide the wire harness through the seat frame. The safety belt buckle pretensioner cover screw needs removal followed by the cover together with the removing of the safety belt buckle pretensioner nut to complete the operation. Unfasten J-clips from the beginning then unfasten the rear armrest J-clip followed by the hook and loop strip while guiding material toward the tether anchor. Users need to first raise the cushion cover with foam pad section and locate the armrest bolts before removing these four bolts to extract the armrest assembly. First disconnect the two armrest bracket bolts before sliding off the respective covers while releasing the bracket cover clips. To install the component begin by reversing the uninstallation procedure starting with the armrest assembly followed by the two armrest bracket bolts then the two armrest bracket covers and finishing with the armrest brackets. Mount the seat cushion foam pad and put on the cover before reattaching the tether anchor material and securing both hook and loop strip and rear armrest J-clip. You should apply the J-clips before putting on the safety belt buckle pretensioner and tightening its nut. After placing back the safety belt buckle pretensioner cover and screw you should connect the safety belt buckle pretensioner wire harness to the seat while securing the clips and electrical connector at its cushion pan. Reinstall the 60 percent bench seat then activate the SRS power while checking for complete functionality without defects until vehicle release.

Safety glasses should be worn while servicing the seat armrest on a 60 percent bench due to the built-in pyrotechnic safety belt pretensioner. Disable all components in the supplemental restraint system before moving forward with work. The 60 percent bench seat has to be taken out first and you must record how the safety belt buckle pretensioner wire harness should be positioned for reuse during reinstallation. The technician should detach safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connector and wire harness anchor clips and guide the wire harness through the seat frame. The safety belt buckle pretensioner requires removal of its cover screw followed by the cover and then the nut before extraction. The J-clips need release before the rear armrest J-clip while setting the tether anchor material to the side. To obtain access to armrest bolts you must lift the cushion cover and foam pad from the seating area before taking out the entire armrest assembly by removing four bolts. Secondly detach the armrest by first removing two bolts from the brackets while also taking off the two cover clips from the armrest bracket. When installing attach the armrest to its place by securing the two armrest bracket bolts while tightening them to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). Reposition the two armrest bracket covers and attach them with clips before returning the armrest assembly using four bolts that should be tightened to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Cascade the seat cushion foam pad and cover downward while reattaching the tether anchor material then join the hook and loop strip with the rear armrest J-clip. Reinstall the J-clips while installing the safety belt buckle pretensioner nut at 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) torque and replace the safety belt buckle pretensioner cover with its screw. You should feed the safety belt buckle pretensioner wire harness into the seat along with its clips and electrical connector to the seat cushion pan before putting back the 60 percent bench seat and activating the SRS system.

Lift the cushion cover and foam pad.

Move the rear J-clip below the armrest aside and position the material around the child safety seat tether anchor, routing the trim flap through it.

Release the armrest bracket cover clips, slide off the two covers, and remove the two armrest bracket bolts.
