Battery Cable

Before servicing or repairing a battery cable operators must disconnect the ground cable then proceed with the positive cable disconnect. First remove the positive battery cable nut from the power distribution box until it disconnects before taking off the generator B+ stud nut followed by removing the cable harness eyelet. After disconnecting the generator battery sense circuit connector you can free the upper radiator support sight shield by removing pin-type retainers. The body negative ground cable bolt must be removed and you should elevate the vehicle for support. The procedure begins by removing the battery cable harness retaining bracket nut and continuing with bracket and engine negative ground cable removal from the stud. The battery cable harness should first detach from the harness bracket before you can remove the starter motor solenoid terminal cover. The starter motor B+ cable requires removing its nut and the battery cable harness assembly needs removal from the vehicle. Application of installation requires performing the removal procedure in reverse order. Some abnormal drive symptoms may occur during the vehicle relearning process after battery removal and replacement because the vehicle needs to adapt its strategy so driving 16 km (10 miles) or more is required for proper re-learning.
