Catalytic Converter, Passenger Side

The servicing process begins by placing the vehicle on a hoist at NEUTRAL where you should disable electricity to the air suspension system to avoid sudden changes in air spring height that could yield serious injuries. The right-hand catalytic converter removal requires disconnection of both the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector and Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) electrical connector. After removing the two nuts that hold the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold you should alternately tighten new nuts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) for proper converter seating. The first step keeps both catalytic converter-to-exhaust inlet pipe bolts and flagnuts for disposal while discarding the gasket. Workers should tighten new bolts alternatively to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) during installation to evenly pull together the flanges correctly. After removing the two exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter studs you should install new ones before tightening them to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). Mating surfaces of the exhaust manifold and outlet pipe and catalytic converter need cleaning before installation which requires completely new gaskets and fasteners. The fasteners need tightening only after all components are fully assembled before using the correct order for fastener tightening that begins at the rear of the vehicle. The completion of the installation requires following the steps in reverse order of the removal sequence.
