Catalytic Converter, Passenger Side

A hoist system that supports the vehicle in NEUTRAL position needs to be used prior to catalytic converter servicing and repairs. The electrical power to the air suspension system must be switched off to stop unexpected air spring changes that can result in vehicle shift during operations. Temporary disabling of air suspension system operation starts by turning off the corresponding switch. Detach power from the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) along with the catalyst monitor sensor (CMS) electrical links. Tighten the two catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts to 48 Nm after installing but discard them before installation. To begin the catalytic converter removal process you should first remove its bolts alongside flag nuts and damper before extracting the converter while throwing away the components. The outlet pipe bolts require 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque setting during installation. The installation process of a new catalytic converter involves removing both HO2S and CMS sensors for which a thin layer of anti-seize lubricant should be placed on their threads before final installation at a torque of 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Perform cleansing on the mating areas between the exhaust manifold and outlet pipe and catalytic converter before applying new gaskets in every installation. You should wait until all parts are assembled before starting from the front of the vehicle to tighten fasteners. An exact method to correctly install the converter involves alternate sessions of tightening exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts and catalytic converter-to-inlet pipe bolts according to specification to achieve even flange contact. Performing the installation follows the reverse sequence to which you removed the components.

Ensure to tighten all fasteners starting from the rear of the vehicle.

Do not tighten any fasteners until all components are assembled, starting the tightening process at the front of the vehicle.

Remove and discard the two catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts, and when installing, tighten them to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

Repower the fire suppression system.
