A proper service or repair of the power steering cooler starts with placing the vehicle into NEUTRAL gear while hoisting it up before proceeding. The two power steering cooler nuts need removal but must be tightened to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs) when reinstallation is complete. Users should first compress the clamp to detach the reservoir-to-cooler hose followed by disconnection of the cooler-to-gear hose by compressing its clamp before removing the cooler. Safety strategies should be employed to reinstall all components according to the removal process before filling the power steering system. The power steering system must be protected against contaminants entering to stop component premature failure.

First step towards servicing or repairing the power steering cooler requires the vehicle to be positioned on a hoist with NEUTRAL in position. Secure the power steering cooler using two nuts which need tightening to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) during installation. After compressing the clamp to disconnect the hose between the reservoir and cooler, perform the same action to separate the hose between cooler and power steering gear before you take out the cooler. The installation ends by performing the reverse removal process and filling the power steering system while protecting it from foreign materials that could cause early failure of its components.

Remove the two nuts securing the power steering fluid cooler and ensure to tighten them to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) upon reinstallation.

Tighten the nuts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
