Service of the 3.5L engine thermostat housing should start with removing the thermostat first. The heating coolant hoses should be removed from the thermostat housing for servicing then placed asides. After disconnecting the three coolant hoses from the thermostat housing, you should loosen and then retighten the two bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Avoid pulling the coolant tube out of the engine block while separating the thermostat housing because this action should be achieved by removing the housing from the tube. follow this by discarding old O-ring seals until you apply clean engine coolant as lubrication to new O-ring seals during the installation process.

Secure the two thermostat housing bolts at 10 Nm (89 lb-inch) torque while installing the part.
