Bumper Cover, Rear

The first step to service or repair the rear bumper cover requires removal of 4 rear bumper screws together with 3 rear bumper pushpins and then the 5 additional rear bumper screws needed to detach the rear bumper cover. First unscrew the parking aid wiring harness electrical connector followed by separating parking aid sensors during new bumper cover installation. It is essential to position your new parking aid-equipped bumper cover safely on a decluttered surface which will not cause scratches when you install it. The placement of the 3.18 mm (0.12 in) pilot hole on the bumper cover interior should avoid excessive trimming for proper parking aid sensor fitment. The correct placement of parking aid sensors depends on using a 28.58 mm (1.12 in) hole saw that must be held perpendicular to the surface when drilling from the exterior side of the part. Additional trimming of the inboard holes is necessary to form an oval shape in all models except Sport based on the scribe lines inside the bumper cover. Sport vehicles require hole trimming on their entire pair of inboard and outboard positions. Begin by notching the keyways on the inside whereas removing any burrs that exist around the holes. Contour the outer bracket to follow the shape of the bumper cover before filing any remaining area at the bottom of the hole. Secure the exterior bracket by letting its locating ribs slot into the designed slots. The rear parking aid sensors must be installed by not rotating them while correctly aligning the locating lug with the bracket notch before connecting their wiring harness electrical connectors. The last key step includes wiring the parking aid harness and then you should install and fasten the rear bumper cover through the 5 screws and 3 pushpins together with the 4 additional screws.

Remove the headlamps.

Ensure the outer bracket fits flush against the bumper cover, matching its contour, and file the bottom of the hole as necessary.
