Exhaust Manifold

Service of the right exhaust manifold starts by placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist. The first service step involves removing the battery ground cable and next is unfastening the exhaust flange nuts before moving on to the exhaust manifold bolts and stud bolts. The service requires both the removal of the exhaust manifold gasket and the exhaust manifold itself. INSTALL THE NEW GASKET AND MANIFOLD AND THEN SECURE THEIR POSITION BY USING THE FASTENERS TO REACH 10 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) THEN 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) TIGHTNESS. Reconnect the battery ground cable after installing the exhaust flange nuts.

A vehicle positioned on a hoist with neutral transmission allows efficient service of the right-hand exhaust manifold. You should start by taking off exhaust flange nuts before moving to bolts and stud bolts then the exhaust manifold before discarding all parts including the bolts and stud bolts and gasket. A proper examination of the exhaust manifold should be performed before reinstalling it. New components of an exhaust manifold gasket, bolts, and stud bolts must be used when assembling the system. The installation requires positioning bolts and stud bolts at 10 Nm (89 lb-inch) and 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) with correct sequence for this step. The exhaust flange nuts need to be reinstalled as the final step.

Remove the pushpins to position the right inner fender splash shield out of the way.

Ensure the vehicle is in neutral and positioned on a hoist.

Remove the two nuts to reposition the coolant tube, and then remove the nuts securing the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold gasket.

Remove the 2 bolts from the front coolant outlet pipe, discarding the O-ring seal.

A new exhaust manifold gasket, bolts, and stud bolts.

Clean the end of the oil level indicator tube with metal parts cleaner and coat it with silicone gasket and sealant.

Position the vehicle on a hoist with it in neutral and disconnect the battery ground cable.
