Exhaust Manifold, Passenger Side

Service of the right exhaust manifold requires the vehicle to be in neutral position while resting on a hoist. The first step involves accessing the catalytic converters while you should also remove the starter motor as well. Start by taking off screws from both the lower right splash shield and moving onto the removal of the two EGR tube flange nuts and heat shield stud bolt. You must take off the heat shield after removing its four bolts followed by the eight bolts with eight spacers and exhaust manifold before discarding both the gaskets. Begin with positioning the new exhaust manifold gasket together with the new EGR tube gasket and exhaust manifold before installing the eight spacers followed by the eight exhaust manifold bolts which should be tightened by hand. Secure the EGR tube nuts while tightening them to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.), then proceed with tightening the eight bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) in the ordered sequence. The installation process begins by installing and tightening the heat shield elements along with its four bolts to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) and thereafter tightening the heat shield stud bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). To complete the installation process you should replace the starter motor as well as reinstall both the lower right splash shield and its screws and the catalytic converters.

Tighten the eight nuts in the designated sequence.

Remove the oil level indicator tube.

Remove the oil level indicator tube.
