Front Pipe

Vehicle maintenance of the intermediate exhaust pipe on vans or wagons requires positioning the vehicle into NEUTRAL gear with frontal contact on a hoist. The muffler and tailpipe assembly needs to be supported by a safety stand. Service technicians must release the exhaust intermediate pipe and detatch the front muffler and tailpipe hanger isolators before loosening the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter Torca(R) clamp for proper tightening to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). The process requires removal of exhaust intermediate pipe together with muffler and tailpipe assembly from catalytic converter before loosening the muffler and tailpipe assembly-to-exhaust intermediate pipe Torca(R) clamp for installation with 55 Nm (41 lb-ft) torque specification. After detachment of the exhaust intermediate pipe from the muffler and tailpipe assembly proceed with installation by performing the reversal of the removal process while orienting new Torca(R) clamps similarly to the original orientation.

Remove them and tighten new ones to 95 Nm (70 lb-ft) during reassembly.

Remove the 2 LH and 1 RH heat shield-to-crossmember bolts.

Support it with a safety stand.

Take out the floor console by pushing and holding the locking clip while lifting it upward through the opening.
