Intermediate Pipe, Front

Start by positioning the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear and hoisting it before working on the exhaust intermediate pipe of gasoline engines. You should replace all fasteners with new ones that carry the same part number as the original parts because exhaust fasteners utilize torque prevailing design principles while reassembly should follow specified torque values for exhaust component retention. Start the repair process by untightening the Torca(R) clamp that connects the exhaust intermediate pipe to the catalytic converter or the catalytic converter delete pipe before moving to unfasten the Torca(R) clamp connecting the intermediate pipe to the muffler. Remove the exhaust intermediate pipe from the isolator while disconnecting it from both the front muffler isolator and the assembly pipe before continuing. To install the exhaust intermediate pipe users should place it into the muffler while also connecting it to the catalytic converter or delete pipe. They should then reattach any isolators that are present before tightening the front muffler isolator. After positioning the button on the catalytic converter or delete pipe correctly into the slot on the exhaust intermediate pipe proceed to tighten the Torca(R) clamp to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). Safely insert the button of the exhaust intermediate pipe into the slot on the muffler and tailpipe before tightening the Torca(R) clamp to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). The exhaust system alignment procedure should be performed when exhaust system isolators show any load other than zero.

First service all gasoline engine exhaust intermediate pipe operations on the vehicle by hoisting it in NEUTRAL position. Unfasten the Torca(R) clamp connecting between the exhaust intermediate pipe and the catalytic converter or the catalytic converter delete pipe and the other clamp between the intermediate pipe and the muffler. The service requires disconnecting the intermediate pipe from its connection to the isolator along with the front muffler isolator when these components exist before removing the exhaust intermediate pipe. Position the exhaust intermediate pipe into the muffler and onto the catalytic converter or delete pipe while connecting the isolator if equipped and the front muffler isolator. Fully incorporate the button from the catalytic converter or delete pipe into the slot on the exhaust intermediate pipe before tightening the Torca(R) clamp to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). Install the exhaust intermediate pipe by properly inserting its button into the matching slot on the muffler and tailpipe and apply a Torca(R) clamp torque to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). Exhaust system alignment must be completed before working on any installation when the isolators are not set at zero pressure.

Discard the nuts.

Disconnect the two Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and two Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) electrical connectors.
