Fuel Rail

Safety criteria demand that you keep away from fuel components and smoking and open flames when servicing the fuel rail since it contains flammable mixtures. All fuel tube or system components need to be disconnected under low pressure conditions to protect yourself from injury. The fuel injection equipment needs proper cleaning during handling while blanking plugs should be used to seal open orifices. Safety procedures start with removing the battery ground cable before working on the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling. First disconnect both quick connect couplings from the air cleaner outlet pipe to separate the crankcase vent tube. Dismantle the wiring retainer which holds the generator to the air cleaner adapter while removing the bolts from the adapter and use clean coolant to lubricate the sealing surfaces before tightening them to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The technician starts by removing the positive crankcase ventilation tube through the quick connect couplings. Then they unplug the electronic throttle control followed by throttle position sensor later by heated PCV intake fitting and eight fuel injector electrical connectors respectively. The service requires removing four fuel rail bolts with a 10 Nm (89 lb-in) torque until tight before extracting the fuel rail and injector assembly. O-ring seals made of special fuel-resistant material should replace the eight fuel injector-to-fuel rail locking clips during installation. Ordinary O-rings will lead to leaks. Before disconnecting the fuel injectors from their position at the fuel rail you should dispose of the old O-ring seals then use engine oil to lubricate fresh material before laying your hands on those injectors. The service completion requires reinstalling all components according to their correct sequence.

Lubricate the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil before installation.
