The first step for working on the exterior rear door handle involves removing the rear door trim panel while setting aside the watershield. The service starts by removing the window channel bolt then setting aside the window channel while tightening the bolt to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when reinstalling. Begin by unfastening the retaining screw on the door handle reinforcement while detaching the exterior rear door handle cover through handle opening and pivoting its rear edge. The exterior rear door handle can be removed after opening the door while pulling it toward the rear until the handle becomes loose. The installation process can be finished by performing the removal-specific operations in reverse order.

You start repair of the external rear door handle by taking away the rear door trim panel and moving the watershield to its side. Clear the rear window channel bolt before placing the window channel aside. When reattaching it later, the bolt needs to be tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Start the replacement by pulling out the retaining screw which secures the exterior rear door handle cover from its position on the door handle reinforcement. Remove the exterior rear door handle bezel by first pulling on the handle to open it and then rotating the back component of the bezel. Perform the removal of the exterior rear door handle by opening and pulling back on it to let it go free. The installation process ends by performing the direct opposite of the removal steps.
