Intake Manifold

One should start the lower intake manifold service by disconnecting the fuel hose spring lock coupling before removing the upper intake manifold. Begin by disconnecting the fuel rail before proceeding with the disconnect of six fuel injector electrical connectors and wire harness locators and the fuel pressure damper vacuum hose. The technicians need to relax the wire harness retainers near the fuel injection supply manifold before they extract the bolts which retain the lower intake manifold. They should toss out the gaskets at this time. The first step in installation requires cleaning all mating surfaces before installing new gaskets into the lower intake manifold. The technician must install the lower intake manifold while following the recommended bolt tightening sequence. Connect the fuel rail before installing the wire harness locators and connecting all six fuel injector electrical connectors and the fuel pressure damper vacuum hose. The installation requires connecting the fuel injection harness to the fuel supply manifold before setting the upper intake manifold in place along with reattaching the fuel hose spring lock coupling.

Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) wire harness from the bracket, the brake booster vacuum supply hose, four vacuum lines, the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) vacuum line, and the Knock Sensor (KS) electrical connector.

Install the throttle cable bracket bolts, connect the throttle cable, and, if equipped, connect the speed control cable.

Use new intake manifold gaskets if necessary, install the intake manifold, and tighten it according to the specified sequence.

Reconnect the TP sensor and IAC electrical connectors, then connect the throttle cables by installing the throttle cable bracket bolts, connecting the throttle cable, and the speed control cable if equipped.
