Service operations for the oil cooler begin with placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position at a hoist. You must drain the engine cooling system first followed by the removal of the oil filter which then requires disposal before installing the new filter to a torque of 16 Nm (142 lb-in). During the new filter installation process tighten it to 16 Nm (142 lb-in). Remove the oil cooler coolant hoses from their location before putting them aside. Metal items found in the oil cooler call for immediate diagnostics to stop engine failure because they indicate underlying mechanical problems. Thoroughly inspect the engine oil cooler after separating it from the threaded insert. The oil cooler needs 58 Nm (43 lb-ft) torque while installation before following the reverse removal steps to finish the installation.

Reinstall the engine oil cooler with a torque of 58 Nm (43 lb-ft).

Always replace the oil cooler assembly, as foreign material cannot be removed from the oil cooler, which could lead to engine damage.
