The first step of servicing the alternator includes supporting the generator manually after removing its bolts while ensuring no damage occurs to the harness. Focus on generator removal with careful handling since the air conditioning and cooling lines require special attention until you reach the rear position of the A/C suction line. The first step requires battery disconnect followed by moving the accessory drive belt off the generator pulley. Proceed with component removal starting from front valance panel, air deflector, then continuing with other parts according to their order. First detach the suction line clip attached to the radiator core support before removing the lower bracket retaining bolt of the LH A/C suction line and moving the bracket toward the back. Support the generator while disconnecting electrical connectors and when removing the B+ wire nut you should set the connector boot to the side. The reverse order of generator removal constitutes the installation step.

A technician needs to disconnect the battery ground cable as the first step for servicing and repairing the alternator. Loosen the accessory drive belt tension until the generator pulley becomes free of the belt. After lifting the vehicle you can remove the lower splash shield by removing its bolts and pin-type retainers. Before disconnecting electrical connectors the generator should be hand-held for support so connectors and wiring remain undamaged. Disengage the generator cable and gradually lower the generator unit to access the battery cable generator nut and safely unfasten it and disconnect the cable. To remove the generator disconnect both the electrical connector and correctly take out the generator from the vehicle. The installation process should be performed in the opposite order of the removal steps.

Reverse the removal procedure.

Disconnect the battery ground cable and remove the air intake tube.
