The procedure to program or reprogram keyless entry remote transmitters into the generic electronic module (GEM) requires programming all transmitters at once because entering programming mode will erase all previous transmitter identification codes (TICs). To access program mode successfully you must cycle the ignition between OFF to RUN at least eight times within 10 seconds and ending on RUN position. Successful entry will cause the GEM to simultaneously perform door locking and unlocking. Program mode requires a user to enter the first TIC in less than 7.5 seconds and the remaining TICs need to be entered within 7.5 seconds following the first entry. The keyless entry remote transmitter functions can be confirmed through pressing any button which locks then unlocks the doors. Press the button again only after waiting a couple of seconds when the door locks show no response. After entering program mode you must turn the ignition switch to OFF or wait up to five minutes; successful programming of a keyless entry remote transmitter will result in a final door lock and unlock sequence by the GEM.
