Power Steering Pump Reservoir

A suitable suction device will empty the power steering fluid from the reservoir during the service and repair processes. The power steering reservoir can be extracted from its mounting studs after unthreading its two securing nuts while tightening these nuts to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs) for reinstallation. Open the power steering return hose clamp then pull off the power steering reservoir supply hose from the power steering pump after releasing its clamp. Reverse the removal process after reservoir removal to install the power steering system while filling it with the correct fluid. Continuous attention must be paid during the operation to stop contaminants from accessing the power steering system since this could result in premature component failure.

A proper suction device should be used to extract power steering fluid from the reservoir before performing service. Use your hands to remove the two reservoir retaining nuts then pull off the power steering reservoir from its mounting points. Reinstall the power steering reservoir by tightening the nuts to 8 Nm which corresponds to 71 lb-in. The return hose disconnection requires release of its clamp while the power steering pump supply hose needs disconnection from the reservoir after the clamp is released. Proceed with removing the reservoir then reinstall it following the exact removal steps. The completion of power steering fluid installation requires the use of proper fluid.

Reverse the removal procedure for installation and fill the power steering system with the appropriate fluid.
