    Q:
How to Ensure Proper Maintenance of the Leaf Spring on a Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The leaf spring repair process requires vehicles to be in NEUTRAL while located on a hoist. A quality jack should support the rear axle. You should install a new shock absorber bolt at the lower position while tightening it to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.). Start by discarding the four rear U-bolt nuts and also removing the U-bolts and spring plate before finally tightening U-bolts to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.). Proceed to lower the rear axle with caution before removing the rear spring spacer when present. Replace the discarded spring-to-frame bracket bolt with a new one and fasten it using a torque of 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.). The spring will be removed after removing the spring shackle-to-spring bolt and nut pair and you should tighten it to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs. upon installation. You can eliminates the spring shackle through axis of the bracket bolt followed by flag nut removal to remove the shackle and re-install it firmly at 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). Figuring out the complete process involves returning to the steps that were used for removal.

    Q:
How to service and repair the leaf spring on Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for leaf spring service or repairs requires the vehicle to be in NEUTRAL position with the hoist supporting the vehicle. A jack with adequate support power must safely hold the rear axle in position. Install the new lower shock absorber bolt after discarding the old ones and nut and apply torque to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.). After discarding the front four rear U-bolt nuts, take away both U-bolts and spring plate before tightening everything to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.). Rephrase the spring spacer on rear axle by lowering its position with caution. Use a new bolt and flag nut by installing them into the spring-to-frame bracket and tighten them to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.). Replacement of the spring requires removing the spring shackle-to-spring bolt as well as nut before screwing it in with torque set at 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.). The process starts by removing the spring shackle through the elimination of the shackle-to-frame bracket bolt and flag nut and removing the shackle before reinstallation with a torque of 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). The recovery process ends with an opposite operation of removal.
