Leaf Spring, Rear

The leaf spring repair process requires vehicles to be in NEUTRAL while located on a hoist. A quality jack should support the rear axle. You should install a new shock absorber bolt at the lower position while tightening it to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.). Start by discarding the four rear U-bolt nuts and also removing the U-bolts and spring plate before finally tightening U-bolts to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.). Proceed to lower the rear axle with caution before removing the rear spring spacer when present. Replace the discarded spring-to-frame bracket bolt with a new one and fasten it using a torque of 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.). The spring will be removed after removing the spring shackle-to-spring bolt and nut pair and you should tighten it to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs. upon installation.
