The process of ventilating all air pressure from the air suspension system is essential before starting any repairs due to serious safety risks. The installation procedure requires proper refolding of every air spring whose format changed because a wrong format could produce serious damage to the vehicle's steering attributes. It is necessary to replace the air spring anytime a vehicle operates with an improper air spring configuration. Before installation every unfolded rear spring must be refolded according to procedure but this method applies only to air springs which have not carried vehicle weight while incorrectly folded. The replacement of newly detected improperly folded air springs found during pre-delivery inspection or after use should be carried out with new components. All air spring inflation should be avoided when the unit exists within its rebound hanging position and moves to the jounce stop while being uninflated. The installer must use the air spring fill procedure to inflate new suspensions before applying loading and inspect the air spring for proper shape after inflation. Reassembly of suspension fasteners requires using new parts identified by same part numbers or equivalent solutions alongside torque value compliance. Position the vehicle on an acceptable lifting device while keeping the vehicle in NEUTRAL mode to achieve wheel and tire assemblies that are slightly above the ground level. Use a tool to widely open air springs while removing the retaining clip then freeing up the air spring from the rear axle until complete removal by disconnecting the electrical solenoid connector followed by compressing the locking ring to extract the air tube and finishing with air spring removal. Install the air spring assembly inside its frame seat while putting the spring retainer clip in place followed by seating the air spring bottom on the rear axle. Complete installation by using the white air tube to fill the fitting completely. Install the air spring solenoid valve through the connection of air spring solenoid electrical connector and air tube while creating the proper air spring shape. Safety precautions include avoiding spring inflation until the vehicle suspension reaches its lowest position so lower the vehicle first then use the scan tool to activate air spring inflation.

It must be refolded, as an incorrectly folded air spring could rupture and alter the vehicle's handling characteristics.

Position the air spring assembly in the frame seat, install the spring retainer clip, seat the bottom of the air spring on the rear axle, ensure the white air tube is fully inserted into the fitting, and connect the air spring solenoid valve.
