A service or repair of the steering wheel needs the driver air bag module removal first. Position the steering wheel at straight ahead before you discarding and removing the steering wheel bolt while tightening it to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). Follow correct handling of the steering wheel while keeping wires from the Clock Spring correctly positioned through its path. The steerable wheel installation requires a fresh bolt that should be installed following the inverse order of bolt removal.

A technician should start the steering wheel repair by taking out the driver air bag module from its position. Start by positioning the steering wheel at zero degrees then untighten and destroy the steering wheel bolt because replacement will be needed after service. The technical specification when installing involves tightening the new bolt with torque at 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). First disconnect the electrical connector of the steering wheel switches from the Clock Spring before extracting the steering wheel safely through its route from the Clock Spring wires. The last step for installation involves doing the removal procedure in reverse order.
