Thermostat

A vehicle on hoists in NEUTRAL position requires a draining of the cooling system before beginning any thermostat service or repair work. You should remove the bolts which require tightening to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) before placing back the oil filter drip shield. You must uninstall the coolant inlet connector bolts that require a torque setting of 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) while installation occurs. Before unlinking the coolant inlet connector it is fundamental to inspect and clean the O-ring seal followed by a replacement with a fresh one. Reinstallation of the thermostat follows the opposite order of removal steps while you should complete the cooling system filling and bleeding procedure.

Use a new thermostat O-ring seal lubricated with clean engine coolant.

Take out the three upper thermostat housing bolts and set the thermostat housing aside, discarding the old thermostat O-ring seal.

Remove the parts in the order indicated in the illustration and table.

Remove the components in the specified order as indicated in the accompanying illustration and table.
