Starting the water thermostat servicing process requires draining down the cooling system. Start the water thermostat service by separating the heater return hose from the thermostat housing then disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor along with the water temperature sensor. The water thermostat can be extracted from the cylinder head by disconnecting the elbow bolts then pulling the elbow away from the cylinder head. Put the thermostat into the water outlet connection while ensuring its tabs line up properly with the housing but remain aware that the tabs will press into place when installed against the cylinder head. Fit the water outlet housing with the thermostat against the head while avoiding movement of the thermostat. Put back the constant tension clamp at its original spot of removal before you attach the upper radiator hose to the water outlet.
