How to service the water thermostat on Ford Ranger?

Starting the water thermostat servicing process requires draining down the cooling system. Start the water thermostat service by separating the heater return hose from the thermostat housing then disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor along with the water temperature sensor. One should begin service procedures by disconnecting the upper radiator hose from its outlet connection. The water thermostat can be extracted from the cylinder head by disconnecting the elbow bolts then pulling the elbow away from the cylinder head. Put the thermostat into the water outlet connection while ensuring its tabs line up properly with the housing but remain aware that the tabs will press into place when installed against the cylinder head. Fit the water outlet housing with the thermostat against the head while avoiding movement of the thermostat. Put back the constant tension clamp at its original spot of removal before you attach the upper radiator hose to the water outlet. Reinstall the constant tension clamp in its original position before you reconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor and the water temperature sensor while connecting the heater return hose. Finally, fill the cooling system.

How to service the thermostat on Ford Mustang?

The service procedure for a thermostat requires drainage of the cooling system at its beginning. The service requires the removal of air cleaner outlet pipe and throttle body. You should remove three bolts from the thermostat housing and keep the housing aside while discarding the O-ring seal. During new thermostat installation you should tighten the bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). You should remove the old thermostat while reversing your removal steps for install with a new thermostat O-ring seal that has received lubrication from clean engine coolant. The installation ends with water and air pressure used to fill and bleed the cooling system.
