    Q:
How to Service and Repair the A/C Hose for the Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Lines on Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair work on auxiliary heater inlet and outlet lines should start by hoisting the vehicle to a position while it remains in NEUTRAL gear and drains all engine coolant. The first steps involve removing the spare tire together with the RH front wheel and tire and then taking off the RH fender splash shield. Disconnection processes for auxiliary heater lines should begin with one-fitment service when only one outlet or inlet is being repaired by removing the appropriate quick disconnect fittings. You can reach the front auxiliary line bracket nut and the bracket along with the front bolt of the RH catalytic converter heat shield by removing them from the RH fender well opening. Expedition EL or Navigator L models need to remove the RH rear wheel as well as the tire from their position. The procedure requires you to remove the auxiliary heater outlet and inlet line quick disconnect fittings which are attached to the heater core at the floor pan. You need to remove the muffler followed by the three splash shield bolts that secure the spare tire carrier and the three muffler heat shield bolts and exhaust hanger bolts and RH Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS). You must complete the removal of heat shield bolts and auxiliary line bracket nuts. The desired single line replacement must receive cutting then placement of replacement line segments in the identical position as prior lines while using fittings from the new lines for cutting measurements. Cut the auxiliary heater line middle section(s) at the RH rear wheel well opening of Expedition EL or Navigator L vehicles, but do this at the front section of Expedition and Navigator vehicles. All extra fragments from the auxiliary heater inlet and outlet lines need to be completely eliminated. Installation begins with connecting the rear parts of inlet and outlet auxiliary heater lines and the quick disconnect fittings before proceeding with front lines. Expedition EL or Navigator L owners should loosely connect center sections of their auxiliary heater lines through the rear wheel well opening on the right-hand side while users of Expedition or Navigator models need to position these lines toward the front of the vehicle. Begin by installing the first three auxiliary line brackets and their nuts until they reach 5 Nm (44 lb-in) torque and then secure the middle fittings while looking for proper alignment of the lines to perform adjustments as needed. Proceed with the following installation order: RH catalytic converter heat shield, RH CMS, exhaust hanger, muffler heat shield, muffler, and spare tire carrier splash shield along with its bolts. You must use the RH fender well opening to install the front auxiliary line bracket with its nut to a torque of 5 Nm (44 lb-in) before placing back the RH front fender splash shield, the RH front wheel and tire together with the RH rear wheel and tire for Expedition EL or Navigator L models. Reinstallation of the spare tire goes together with engine cooling system filling.
