Recovery of refrigerant must begin as the first step when servicing or repairing the evaporator outlet line. The first step involves removing the ground strap nut located at the right-hand shock tower and the evaporator outlet line bracket stud bolt before tightening both bolts to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). The procedure requires disconnected spring lock coupling from evaporator outlet line while throwing away existing O-ring seals. Begin the evaporator outlet line service by unscrewing the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) fitting nut before disconnecting it along with discarding O-ring seals and installing the fitting tightness at 8 Nm (71 lb-in). When installing the evaporator outlet line secure it per the removal order while using new O-ring seals that have been pre-layered with clean PAG oil. At the same time lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. The refrigerant system requires evacuation and leak testing and charging as the final procedure. The selected O-ring seals must come exclusively from this vehicle's original equipment since they differ from other Ford products and substituting a new receiver/drier desiccant bag becomes necessary only when the A/C compressor fails or damages the receiver/drier desiccant bag.

You must recover refrigerant before starting the service work on the evaporator outlet line. Start by removing the ground strap nut at the right-hand shock tower along with the evaporator outlet line bracket stud bolt while tightening it to 11 Nm (97 lb-in) when reinstalling. The service begins with breaking the spring lock coupling of the evaporator outlet line while throwing away its O-ring seals. First disconnect the fitting of the Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) by removing the fitting nut and replace the O-ring seals before reinserting the fitting properly tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). You should forthwith remove the evaporator outlet line. The installation requires following the reverse of removal steps while using new O-ring seals that have been lubricated with clean PAG oil along with correct amount of clean PAG oil for refrigerant system lubrication. The last step includes evacuation followed by leak testing before system charging.

Remove the engine cooling fan and the compressor-to-condenser discharge line bracket bolt, tightening it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) upon reinstallation.

Only the specified O-ring seals for this vehicle should be used.

Remove the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley, disconnect the clutch field coil electrical connector, and remove the compressor-to-condenser discharge line bracket nut.

Detach the condenser-to-evaporator line radiator clip and remove the condenser-side line.

Remove the engine cooling fan and the compressor-to-condenser discharge line bracket bolt, tightening it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) upon reinstallation.
