The first step to maintain the evaporator outlet line consists of removing the air cleaner and its outlet tube. Proceed to disconnect the right-hand wheel speed sensor electrical connector and gather the refrigerant from the system. Follow the procedure by removing elements in this specific sequence. During installation use the appropriate amount of clean PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) which fulfills Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B to lubricate the refrigerant system. The A/C fittings need new O-ring seals that received clean mineral oil treatment before reinstallation after disconnecting any fittings. Refrigerant system evacuation should be followed by leak testing then final charging completes the process. Customers must replace their suction accumulator with a new one exclusively when present evidence shows either a broken A/C compressor or damaged suction accumulator. The R-134a refrigeration system requires F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) only as a tool to lubricate O-ring seals while this product must never be added into the R-134a refrigerant system as compressor lubrication.

The procedure to repair or service the A/C compressor manifold and tube starts with removing the A/C compressor and unmounting the pressure cutoff switch electrical connection. First remove the A/C fitting nuts and then discard O-ring seals from the two fitting points. Tighten new seals during installation to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). The lower compressor manifold and tube bracket nuts need removal but they should be torqued to 9 lb-ft (12 Nm) when reassembling. The installation process requires following the reverse order of removal steps for the compressor manifold and tube assembly. R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals need to be lubricated with specific Refrigerant Compressor Oil F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) although PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) and any oil which meets WSH-M1C231-B Ford specification will work effectively as A/C compressor lubricant. A new suction accumulator needs replacement only when you detect physical evidence either from a failed A/C compressor or damaged suction accumulator.

The replacement or service of the condenser to evaporator line requires a new suction accumulator when there is either compressor contamination or damaged suction accumulator. You must start by removing the air cleaner accompanied by the air cleaner outlet tube and suction accumulator. First retrieve refrigerant and after that disconnect the components according to their specified order of removal. The installation requires a reversed order of removal steps with proper PAG oil lubrication of the refrigerant system according to specified amounts. After completing the process repeat proper refrigerant system evacuation and perform leak detection and charging work. Reinstall new O-ring seals that received PAG oil lubrication on any fittings which were disconnected.

A new accumulator is not required unless there is evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the accumulator.

Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system.

Reverse the removal procedure, ensuring that if a new condenser to evaporator line is installed, the refrigerant system is lubricated with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent, and new O-ring seals are lubricated in clean PAG oil or equivalent.

A new accumulator is only necessary if there is evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the accumulator.

Disconnect the A/C pressure cycling switch electrical connector.

Recover the refrigerant.

Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL.

Disconnect the two A/C line fittings, discarding the O-ring seals.
