Applications of the fuel tank filler pipe require safety precautions which include the restriction of smoking and open flames and personal electronic devices because highly flammable mixtures exist. Start the procedure by disconnecting the ground cable linked to the battery. A fuel tank with a content volume greater than half should have its level reduced to at most half. The service of the fuel tank filler pipe requires first removing the evaporative emission canister and the two upper retaining screws which need to be tightened to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) before reinstalling. The installation of the fuel tank filler pipe requires tightening the lower retaining bolt to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). The technician needs to first remove the right-hand rear inner fender splash shield before disconnecting the vapor tube quick connect coupling from the fuel tank filler pipe. First detach the fuel tank filler hose from the fuel tank while releasing the clamp and then take out the fuel tank filler pipe from the vehicle. The completion of service requires you to perform the reverse steps of removal.
