Tie Rod Installation and Repair Tips for 2008 Mercury Milan

  • Q: How to service and repair the tie rod inner on 2008 Mercury Milan?
A: In order to service the tie rod inner, remove the steering gear, mark the pinion shaft and housing. Relax the tie-rod jam nut, strip out the outer end of the tie-rod (tighten to 90 Nm), and strip away both bellows boots. Fit the inner tie-rod end to a wrench (tighten to 103 Nm) and crimp the new rock washer. Installation is reversed.
