- Q: How to service and repair the inner tie rod on 2009 Lincoln MKZ?A: In order to service the inner tie rod remove steering gear, identify pinion shaft and housing. loosen the tie-rod jam nut with a soft-jaw vise, and remove the outer tie-rod end, tightening it to 80 Nm. Take off bellows boots to right-hand inner tie-rod end and hold on to the piston shaft tightening to 103 Nm. Installation by undoing the process.
