2000 Ford Crown Victoria A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2000 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The first step to service the HVAC accumulator requires executing the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure. Use spring lock coupling general steps to disconnect the evaporator to compressor suction line from the suction accumulator/drier. Perform the suction accumulator/drier separation from the A/C evaporator core while using a back up wrench to protect both fitting and tube from harm. Preparation of the suction accumulator/drier consists of unscrewing the mounting bracket retaining screw which connects to the A/C evaporator core before extracting the assembly. The next step requires removal of the insulation cover from the suction accumulator/drier and separation of the A/C accumulator mounting bracket from it. The installation process should be done in reverse order by first servicing the suction accumulator/drier with PAG compressor oil YN-12-C F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent that follows Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. The O-ring seal demands application of the same PAG compressor oil during installation while using a back up wrench to protect the fitting torsion from damage.
