2000 Ford Expedition Accelerator Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Accelerator Cable on 2000 Ford Expedition?
A: Start service and repair procedures of the accelerator pedal cable by disconnecting it from both the accelerator pedal and shaft. The service requires you to start with the left-hand side accelerator control splash shield bolts then proceed with the right-hand side splash shield bolt to finally detach the splash shield. You need to remove the accelerator cable clip first and then compress the lock tabs on the accelerator cable that exist inside the passenger area. The compressed accelerator cable will enter the engine space. Detach the fitting along with the accelerator cable from its bracket before sliding off the accelerator cable end from the throttle lever by rotating the throttle lever in the forward direction. The installation requires following all steps in reverse order to the removal.
