2000 Ford Expedition Brake Master Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake master cylinder on 2000 Ford Expedition?
A: You should start brake master cylinder servicing by cleaning the exterior before taking it off the vehicle. After removing the filler cap drain the brake fluid into a container before discarding it since this fluid should not be reused. Owners of speed control vehicles must first detach the brake pressure switch followed by removal of the brake master cylinder spacer. Start by releasing the primary piston assembly through depressing while removing its snap ring before discarding the whole assembly. The removal procedure for Secondary piston assembly includes plugging Rear outlet port followed by Brake pressure switch port when required and introducing Compressed air through Front outlet port to securely pull out the assembly for discarding. A new brake master cylinder should be installed if its bore sustains damage and the bore requires cleaning while undergoing inspection using isopropyl alcohol. Assemble the new piston assembly by coating its seals with High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or an equivalent fluid meeting Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A but using no oil which can cause damage to the seals. To assemble the system first place the secondary piston assembly and the primary piston assembly before inserting the snap ring after tensioning the primary piston. Install the brake pressure switch for speed control vehicles after returning the brake master cylinder spacer. Add clean High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or equivalent fluid to the reservoir of the brake master cylinder followed by installation of the filler cap. The vehicle requires final brake master cylinder bleeding before it receives the product installation.
