2000 Ford F-150 Turn Signal Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the turn signal switch on 2000 Ford F-150?
A: The first step for servicing the turn signal switch involves disconnecting the battery ground cable. The ignition key should be used to set the switch to the RUN position before a punch tool is applied to push the release tab so the cylinder can be drawn out. The next step is to twist both the tilt wheel handle and shank to take them off. The gear selector needs to be moved to its lowest position to expose the steering column opening cover which should be taken off by removing its four clips. You must separate first the upper steering column shroud by using a screwdriver to eliminate its three screws followed by the removal of both shrouds. Unscrew the two screws from the multi-function switch then disconnect its electrical connectors before removing the switch. Reinstalling the battery requires attention because disconnecting and reconnecting the battery leads to a temporary abnormal drive experience while the vehicle adapts its settings which might need continuous driving for 16 km (10 mi). To reinstall the equipment you must perform the removal steps in the opposite sequence.
