2000 Ford Taurus A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2000 Ford Taurus?
A: Start the HVAC accumulator service operation with the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure execution. Place the removed stud aside before setting down the degas bottle. The hose should be disconnected first along with the bolt and nut removal. Place the degas bottle to the side. The service procedure starts with removing the nut and A/C hose support bracket before taking out the degas bottle. Disconnect the suction accumulator spring lock coupling by removing its O-ring seal and discard the used part. A new O-ring seal requires application of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent that fulfills Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B for installation. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector then repeat the suction accumulator spring lock coupling disconnect procedure while discarding the O-ring seal. Climb the screw then extract the suction accumulator from its place. To install the component reverse the disinstallation steps before evacuation and A/C system leak testing and charging procedures.
