2001 Ford Taurus A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2001 Ford Taurus?
A: The procedure for servicing the HVAC accumulator begins with conducting the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery method. Both bolts securing the roll restrictor need removal prior to extracting the roll restrictor bracket using its bolted components. The A/C hose support bracket along with the detector nut must be removed before extracting the degas bottle. The suction accumulator spring lock coupling needs disconnecting while the user discards the O-ring seal. The installation requires a new O-ring seal that should be lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent oil that complies with WSH-M1C231-B Ford specification. About to install the new O-ring, disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector followed by the suction accumulator spring lock coupling. The succsion accumulator must be unscrewed from the spring lock coupling so the suction accumulator can be extracted. When installing the components follow the opposite order of removal while performing an evacuation procedure and leak testing and system charging.
