2000 Ford Taurus Oil Pan Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil pan on 2000 Ford Taurus?
A: Start the process of servicing or repairing the oil pan by removing left-hand exhaust manifold to pipe nuts followed by raising and supporting the vehicle. Start by unscrewing and removing the screws from both splash shields which allows removal of the wheel when the pin-type retainer is disengaged. Start the service by disconnecting both the right-hand Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector and removing the exhaust bracket bolt then disconnecting the left-hand HO2S sensor electrical connector. The exhaust system needs to be supported before removing the nuts and Y-pipe and discarding the gasket while unfastening the right-hand exhaust manifold to pipe nuts. Engine oil drainage should be followed by installation of a new drain plug gasket before tightening the drain plug to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Begin the process by removing the torque converter inspection cover with its 18 bolts then removing the engine to transaxle bracket bolts and nuts before detaching the oil pan bolts. The sealing surfaces on the engine and oil pan require cleaning with Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or an equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A. Install a new gasket on the pan then apply 10 mm (0.40 inch) diameter dots of Silicone Gasket and Sealer F7AZ-19554-EA or its equivalent WSE-M4G323-A4 onto specified areas remembering to complete installation and bolt tightening within six minutes of sealant application. Apply simple hand force to tighten the oil pan to transaxle bolts before using the specified sequence to secure oil pan bolts to transaxle bolts. After installing the torque converter inspection cover you need to position the engine to transaxle bracket followed by installation of the nuts and bolt. Attach the Y-pipe with its gasket before installing the nuts then finish with right-hand exhaust manifold to pipe nuts. Start by connecting the left-hand HO2S electrical connector and then install the exhaust bracket bolt and fix the right-hand front inner wheel splash shield with screws and pin-type retainer. Place the right-hand wheel before lowering the automobile and end with the installation of left-hand exhaust manifold to pipe nuts. Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or another equivalent oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G must be used when filling the crankcase to its correct measurement.
