How to service and repair the thermostat on 2000 Ford Taurus?

In order to service and repair the thermostat, drain the engine cooling system first. Secondly, remove the lower radiator hose connector to the water outlet connector. Then unscrew the bolts holding the water outlet adapter and thermostat, and remove the thermostat having the water outlet adapter. To install, reverse the un-installation process.
