  A: Service of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor requires starting with a battery ground cable disconnect. Begin the MAF sensor service by opening the air cleaner before disconnecting the extension harness connector wires from the wiring harness. You should disconnect the air cleaner clamp before pulling apart the air cleaner elements from each other. Maintenance operations on the MAF sensing elements inside the airflow bypass will lead to unit failure. The MAF sensor module functions as one assembly unit for servicing the MAF sensor body. Before installation you must cut the tape from the extension harness wire loom near the air cleaner grommet. You should now detach the air cleaner grommet at its outlet position before pulling it down onto the extension harness. Detach the MAP sensor plate along with the MAF sensor from the outlet side of the air cleaner before unplugging the MAF sensor electrical connector from the extension harness.
