  A: Service of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor requires first disconnecting the battery ground cable together with opening the air cleaner. First disconnect the extension harness connector from the wiring harness before you roam the clamp to split the inlet from the outlet of the air cleaner. The MAF sensing elements within the airflow bypass should not be touched because this action could produce unit failure. The MAF sensor module together with its body receive calibration and service at one time. The extension harness wire tubular cover requires scissors to cut its tape and the user needs to peel it near the clean air grommet location. Pull the grommet out from the air cleaner outlet then descend it along the extension harness tubes. Move the MAF sensor plate and MAF sensor from the outlet side of the air cleaner before disconnecting the electrical connector of the MAF sensor from the extension harness and then remove the nuts to separate the MAF sensor plate from the MAF sensor. Follow the removal steps in reverse order when installing the system while checking that the engine air cleaner housing grommet at the extension harness section is completely seated to block any unmetered air from getting inside the engine. To achieve proper alignment you should use the alignment notch located on the air cleaner body.
