- Q: How to service the air filter element on 2000 Lincoln LS?A: The first step to service the air filter element includes loosening the outlet tube clamp of the Air Cleaner (ACL) at the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor then opening the snaps to move the outlet side of the air cleaner to the side. The Air Cleaner (ACL) element needs only hand manipulation because its removal requires no tools. The grommet which seals the air cleaner housing should be completely seated when installing the new element because it prevents unmetered air from entering the engine. The new air cleaner element requires installation through the alignment notch to match up inlet and outlet sections before doing a reverse procedure to finish installation.
