2000 Mercury Cougar Fan Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the radiator cooling fan motor on 2000 Mercury Cougar?
A: The radiator cooling fan motor service requires first disconnecting the battery ground cable. You should lift and sustain the vehicle before removing the radiator splash shield. Service the radiator cooling fan motor by first separating the electrical connector from both the cooling fan motor and cooling fan resistor and then disconnecting the diode electrical connector and the wiring harness. After disconnecting the cooling fan motor electrical connector proceed to detach the wiring harness a second time. The suction accumulator should be first detached from air-conditioned vehicles before it is positioned against the side of the team. Lower the vehicle before moving on to detach the air conditioning tube (specific to air-conditioned vehicles). First remove the fan shroud nut before taking out the fan shroud through the process of detaching the wiring harness. The new installation requires following the opposite steps of removal.
